A seasoned Chemical and Minerals Engineer with well-developed skills and experience in Mining Projects and Operations management.
Currently an independent Process Consultant and was the immediate past General Manager of the Ma’aden Gold and Base Metal’s Flagship Ad Duwayhi Gold Mine, Saudi Arabia. He successfully commissioned Ma’aden Ad Duwayhi Gravity-CIL gold project with its accompanying open pit for first gold pour and ramped up throughput to achieve commercial production in 2015.
He earlier joined the Plant Division of Hanwha Engineering and Construction Company Seoul, South Korea in 2013 as Manager for the detailed engineering design of the Ma’aden Gravity-CIL Gold Project. Led the Hanwha team to successfully review 30, 60 and 90% design work to Ma’aden and later served as the Site Process Consultant for Hanwha.
He started his mining career with Ashanti Goldfields Company Obuasi now AngloGold Ashanti in 1984. For his 20 years in AGC, he served in various capacities including Metallurgical Superintendent, Plant Manager, Metallurgical Services Manager and Senior Manager Metallurgy with combined responsibilities for the Sulphide Treatment Plant with BIOX and the Oxide Treatment Plant.
Carried out Flotation circuit modification at the Sulphide Treatment Plant to achieve sulphide concentrate upgrade to the BIOX Plant with drastic reduction in Acid consumption translating into significant sulphide treatment processing cost reduction.
Had a total of a seven-year stint with Gold Field’s Damang and Tarkwa operations. Played a major role in the Tarkwa CIL Expansion Project. A brownfield project that transformed Tarkwa CIL Plant from 450k tpm to 1.0M tpm.
Also implemented process development and optimisation initiatives including the Commissioning and operation of the first High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) Plant in Ghana to extend the Tarkwa Heap Leach operating life.
His area of interest in the Mining industry is Productivity with emphasis on business operations and process efficiency and had the opportunity as a speaker on the topic: Getting Long-Term Operational Excellence right and also participated in panel discussion on: The Mine of the Future at the 2017 DUBAI Mining and Quarry Conference and Expo.
A product of KNUST with BSc Chemical Engineering 1982. He holds MSc Minerals Engineering 1990 from the Camborne School of Mines University of Exeter, UK with specialization in Sulphide concentrate pretreatment. He is also armed with Executive MBA 2006 from GIMPA Greenhill, Ghana.
