From 2012 to 2014, she worked for the International Research Institute for Climate Society, attached to Jeff Sachs’ Earth Institute in New York, where she led and implemented weather-based index insurance programs for smallholder farmers in West Africa, in close partnership with multilateral agencies (World Food Program, IFC etc.)
Margot joined Total Eren in 2014 and brought her on-the-ground business developer expertise and knowledge of Africa. Initially specialized in the BtoB market and in the mining sector in particular, she worked on a dozen of greenfield projects for a variety of solar and hybrid projects for large energy-intensive industrials in Burkina Faso, Mali, Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, South Africa, etc.
From project origination to commercial operation date, Margot acted as Project Leader for the Essakane Solar project, a 15MWp solar plant connected to a 57MW HFO-based power plant in northern Burkina Faso on a gold mine site. Margot supervised the development process, feasibility study, PPA and EPC/O&M negotiations and the financing of the project.
